Database development that your data can grow on.
Your data outlives every other part of your stack, and a shaky schema is the most expensive thing to fix later. We design and build the data layer, modeling, indexing, migrations, and backups, so your data stays fast, consistent, and safe as it grows.
The difference is the foundation
Your schema is the decision you live with the longest
You can rewrite a frontend or swap a framework, but your data, and the shape you gave it, tends to stay. A schema that fits the business makes every feature easier to build. One that doesn't turns into slow queries, tangled workarounds, and data you can't fully trust.
We treat the data layer as the foundation it is. We model your domain properly, choose the right database, index for how you actually query, and change the schema through safe, reversible migrations. The result is a database your product can rely on and grow on for years.
What you get
A data layer built to stay fast and correct
Sound modeling, tuned queries, and safe migrations, with the integrity and backups that keep your data trustworthy.
Data modeling and schema design
A schema that mirrors how your business actually works, so the structure supports your features instead of fighting them later.
The right database for the job
A clear choice between relational and NoSQL based on your data and access patterns, so you're not forcing the wrong engine onto the problem.
Query and index optimization
Indexes and queries tuned to your real access patterns, so reads and writes stay fast as the table grows from thousands to millions of rows.
Safe, versioned migrations
Schema changes applied through reviewed, reversible migrations, so the database evolves without downtime or lost data.
Data integrity and constraints
Correctness enforced at the data layer with constraints and transactions, so bad data can't slip in even when application code has a bug.
Performance and scaling
Partitioning, replication, and connection pooling where they're needed, so the database keeps up as your volume and traffic climb.
Backups and recovery
Automated backups and tested point-in-time recovery, so a mistake or failure is a quick restore rather than a permanent loss.
Documented, owned data layer
Typed data access, an entity diagram, and clear docs, delivered as code you own, so your team understands and can extend the schema.
How we build it
From data requirements to a database you can trust
A clear path from modeling your domain to a deployed, monitored database, reviewed at every stage.
- 01
Discovery & data requirements
We map your entities, how they relate, and how they'll be read and written, plus the volume and growth you expect.
- 02
Modeling & database choice
We design the schema and choose the engine that fits your access patterns, integrity needs, and scale, not just the default.
- 03
Build & migrate
We implement the schema and versioned migrations, typed and tested, so changes are repeatable and reversible from day one.
- 04
Optimize & harden
We index the hot queries, load-test at expected volume, and set up backups and recovery, so performance and safety are proven.
- 05
Deploy & maintain
We deploy with monitoring on slow queries and storage, then evolve the schema safely as your needs change.

Why it matters
Good data design compounds, and so does bad
A well-designed database is invisible: features ship faster, reports are trustworthy, and the app stays fast as data grows. A poor one taxes everything built on top of it, with slow pages, duplicate records, and the constant risk that a number is simply wrong. And because the data keeps accumulating, the cost of a bad design grows with it.
Investing in the data layer early is one of the highest-leverage engineering decisions you can make. Get the model, integrity, and performance right, and you remove a whole class of problems before they start, on a foundation you own and can keep building on.

FAQ
Database development, answered
Planning or fixing a database? Book a call and we'll review the data with you.
What does database development include?
It's the design and engineering of the data layer your software runs on: modeling your entities into a schema, choosing the right database, writing and optimizing queries, setting up indexes, applying safe migrations, enforcing data integrity, and putting backups and recovery in place. In short, making sure your data is structured well, fast to access, and safe.
SQL or NoSQL, which database should we use?
It depends on your data and how you use it. Relational databases like PostgreSQL are the right default for most applications: they enforce integrity and handle complex queries well. NoSQL fits specific needs, like very high write volume, flexible documents, or particular access patterns. We choose based on your requirements rather than a preference, and often a relational core with a cache or document store for the parts that need it.
How do you make a database fast?
Mostly through good design and the right indexes. We model the schema around your real access patterns, add indexes to the queries that need them, and rewrite the slow ones, then use caching and connection pooling to take load off the database. We measure with real query plans at expected volume, so speed comes from evidence, not guesswork.
Can you fix or redesign our existing database?
Yes. We audit the current schema, queries, and indexes, find where integrity or performance is breaking down, and design a path to a better structure. Because a database is rarely something you can replace overnight, we do it through incremental, reversible migrations that improve it step by step without a risky big-bang rewrite.
How do you migrate data without losing it or causing downtime?
With versioned, reversible migrations, tested against a copy of real data before they touch production, and applied in a controlled sequence. For larger changes we use techniques like backfilling and dual-writes so the switch is gradual, and we always have a backup and a rollback plan, so a migration is a routine step rather than a gamble.
How do you keep our data safe and backed up?
We set up automated backups and actually test recovery, so a restore works when you need it rather than only in theory. We enforce integrity with constraints and transactions, keep access least-privilege, and add replication where availability matters. The goal is that a mistake, bug, or failure is recoverable, not catastrophic.
